UPDF Recruitment Requirements and Qualification 2024

To qualify for UPDF recruitment 2024, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Citizenship: MUST be a citizen of Uganda in possession of an original National Identity Card.

Medical: MUST be fit and ready to undergo medical and body fitness tests.

Age: MUST be adult male or female from 18 – 22 years.

Education Standard: Formal education strictly of S.4 (UCE) who finished in the year 2020 – 2023 and MUST have passed English and Mathematics.

Application letters duly signed by LC I, LC II and LC III chairpersons, GISO or DISO and RDC are a MUST.

Aspirants MUST be residents of the area, disciplined and with no criminal record.

General Requirements

  1. Must be a Ugandan citizen with a valid national ID.
  2. Must possess a minimum of an Ordinary Level (O’ Level) Certificate or its equivalent with at least four passes, including English and Mathematics.
  3. For professional roles, a degree or diploma in relevant fields from a recognized institution is required.
  4. Must be physically and medically fit according to UPDF standards.
  5. Must have no criminal record and be of good conduct.
  6. Minimum height of 5 feet 4 inches for males and 5 feet 2 inches for females.
  7. Must be ready to undergo a rigorous training program and commit to serving in various parts of the country.

How to Apply for UPDF Recruitment 2024/2025

Interested and qualified candidates should follow the procedures below to apply:

Aspiring candidates applying to join the regular force will get recommendations from LCI, LCII, LCIII, GISO and DISO. Thereafter, they will submit their application forms to the office of RDC where they will be registered and awaiting collection by the UPDF collection teams that will submit them to the office of Joint Staff Human Resource Management which will cause a shortlist.

The list of successful applicants will be published/displayed on the District/City notice boards informing the shortlisted applicants to appear at designated recruitment centres for the final interviews.

The recruitment shall be conducted using the projected population figures of each District/City of Uganda that forms the basis of recruitment quotas.

Candidates who pass the selection process will undergo intensive military training at UPDF training schools. The training program covers various aspects, including physical fitness, military tactics, discipline, and specialized skills depending on the role.
